| Natural High Safaris is run by Alex Edwards , who set up the company after more than a decade of living and working in East Africa. As a safari guide, camp manager and bush pilot, spending most of his time in the remotest parts of the African bush, and honing skills under some veritable bush legends, Alex became very much a part of the safari tribe. This connection and experience, combined with his uncompromising views of what makes a great safari, made him ideally fitted to creating an Africa travel company which was, and remains, well beyond the norm. Big in stature and thinking, Alex is married with three children, and gets his kicks from dragging them all off on ridiculously ambitious, but hugely exciting holidays. He's recently been joined by Mark Houldsworth, as a strategic partner. Generally more patient and sensible than Alex, Mark is an ideal other half. He has a wealth of experience in East Africa, guiding and running some of the continent's best camps, while founding his own safari company. Well up to the challenges of making things work with ironclad efficiency both in the wild and in the office, he latterly played a big part in bringing together Tanzania's finest camps & guides to create Nomad Tanzania, of which he's been MD for the past 3 years. Recently settled once more in his native Scotland, he's getting used to wearing thick jumpers and lighting his own fires. Mark also has a wife and three kids, but not the same ones as Alex. As a travel consultant for over 15 years, the last two with Natural High Safaris, Catherine Ronan has a seriously good reputation, both with her clients and with the camps and lodges she adores. Her life in Africa began in the early eighties, and she worked in Kenya and Zimbabwe for five unforgettable years. An unashamed Africa fanatic, she joined Abercrombie & Kent as a southern Africa Sales Consultant, and then spent 11 years with Ultimate Travel. Irish by descent, Catherine is a people person, and spends an awful lot of time on the phone. When we can drag her away from the receiver, she shoots off on fact-finding missions to Africa, where she is as at home as she is in County Cork. Fiona Pelly simply couldn't resist the pull of her homeland, becoming yet another key player in the tightly-knit group of Africa travel artisans that is Natural High Safaris in 2007. Fiona was born in Kenya in 1964 where her family farmed on the slopes of Mount Kenya. Educated at English boarding schools, she returned to work in the Zimbabwean bush, finally establishing her own tour consultancy in London called the Art of Travel. This specialized in tailor-made safaris to east, central and southern Africa and was a big success. But due to having too many children too quickly, she had to sell up in '97. She has now fully returned to type and is one of Natural High Safaris' travel advisors. At any opportunity, Fiona disappears to research camps, even entire countries in Africa. Vanessa Janion joined Natural High in 2007, bringing with her a reputation that few can equal. Her first contact with Africa was to work at Lewa Downs in Kenya after which she worked as a guide in Egypt where she gained much in-depth knowledge of the country. Having worked for Eco Safaris as a consultant, she joined the newly formed Worldwide Journeys & Expeditions in London until the company merged to become The Ultimate Travel Company. Vanessa worked as a safari consultant for about 16 years before moving down to Wiltshire. Her travel experience extends beyond Sub-Sahara Africa to North Africa (Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia), Central America (Costa Rica, Belize and Guatemala) and South America (Galapagos Islands, Ecuador, Peru, Chile and Argentina). Alex Bisset joined Natural High in 2007. She worked and travelled in Africa in the 1980's before joining Art of Travel in 1991. She travelled with Art of Travel to east and southern Africa including Madagascar. She became a director of Art of Travel and stopped working for the company, after it was sold in 1999. She is very keen to be back in the African world and joined Natural High Safaris in October 2007. Why use Natural High?At Natural High Safaris, we offer you unrivalled local knowledge and experience. We promote a sustainable form of tourism, not one that might ultimately contribute to the destruction of the places that have so captured our own imagination. So wherever possible our aim is to get you away from the crowds and into the wilderness, in camps that compliment rather than dominate their surroundings. And let's face it, we want you to have enormous fun. This is a vibrant and dynamic continent, so as well as game drives, we give you the chance to walk, ride, boat, or if you like, to just sit and watch. We want you to feel Africa, rather than just see it pass by your car window at 40 mph. Planning When we plan your safari, you can be sure that we will put our full energy into trying to match the itinerary to your expectations - and if it can't be done, you can be sure we'll tell you; we aim to be a reliable travel resource as much as anything else. We are prompt and efficient, so you'll hear back from us quickly and we'll try to be as creative as possible in what we suggest to you. We're happy to talk through scenarios with you, and encourage you to call us once you've had a look through this site. Financial Security When you book with us, you are guaranteed financial security because we are ATOL bonded (license number 6768) see www.atol.org.uk References Naturally it can be daunting dealing with a company over the internet. One of the best ways for us to allay your fears - (are we real and will we deliver what we say?)- is to put you in touch with previous clients. Let us know if you'd like us to do that and we'll be more than happy to do so. We stopped putting quotes from previous clients on our site, because it just looked About the WebsiteThe design and tailor-made content management system that the site runs on is by Kris Burford at midtempo. If you experience any problems or find things don't work quite as you expect while you're here, please let us know - your feedback is extremely important to us.
