We've learnt that the word "camping" is something of a loaded word, so we have to be careful where we point it. But we should be clear - the sort of traditional mobile safari camps that we use in Tanzania have nothing to do with the sand-in-your-sandwiches, putting up a tent the size of a bin-liner type of camping. With large walk-in tents, comfortable beds, a dining tent and a superb crew of people looking after your every need, a few days in a real safari camp is one of life's richer experiences.
If you're travelling with a group of friends or family then we can arrange a camp that is totally private; just for you. If you're travelling as a couple, or you prefer the idea of mixing it up with a few like minded souls, then we also use some outstanding shared camps. These generally have no more than 8 tents and ensure that each group has its own vehicle and guide for the duration of the safari. As a result, your game viewing is conducted at a pace dictated by you, and there's no need to stop because someone else in your car has an unhealthy interest in animal droppings...or to feel uncomfortable if you do. The point of this experience is to give you the best game viewing it's possible to have.
In short, from an island of secluded civilisation you get the most extraordinary access to outstanding wildlife areas. Free from the crowds that are a feature of the large safari lodges, the sound of generators and the harsh and unsympathetic lighting that shatters views of the African night sky, this is an experience that gets you under the skin of Africa. What's more it's about as different to everyday life as you can get. Well, as different and still have a smile on your face at the end of the day.
