Northern Tanzania contains some of the best game veiwng areas in the whole of Africa. This itinerary focuses on getting you into the best areas, wherever possible away from the crowds. Simplicity is the key here, but not at the expense of quality of experience.
Arusha National Park is little known and often over looked, but, lying in the shadow of the 15,000 ft Mt Meru it's a fascinating and rewarding starting point.
Lake Manyara lies in the base of the Rift Valley under a towering vertical escarpment. Manyara is a soda lake and home to myriad bird life including flamingos and pelicans, not to mention numerous elephant and other large mammals. The campsite here is in the little visited southern end of the lake, within a short distance of spectacular waterfalls.
Karatu is within easy range of the Ngorongoro Crater and here you will leave the camp for a small lodge for a couple of nights.
Time in the Serengeti is divided into two, giving access to two distinctly different areas. As well as providing variety, this is also a way of maximising your chances of catching up with the wildebeest migration as it heads to its northern range along the Mara River.
