Mobile Tented Safaris

We've learnt that the word "camping" is something of a loaded word, so we have to be careful where we point it.  But let's be clear - this isn't the sand-in-your-sandwiches, putting up a tent the size of a large bin-liner type of nightmare camping.  When you travel with a camp like the Loliondo Wilderness Mobile you get large walk-in tents with beds, a dining tent, a superb crew of people looking after you and an experience that's very hard to beat.

Many people resort to the word "luxury" in describing this experience, but we feel this is misleading.  Not because the 3 course dinners aren't superb, the drinks cold, the showers hot and the beds comfortable, but because we just think this misses the point.  The greatest luxury is the freedom these camps give you and the richness of experience that you find here.

From an island of secluded civilisation you get the most extraordinary access to a piece of pristine wilderness.  Free from crowds of other people, the sound of generators and the harsh and unsympathetic lighting that denies you views of the African night sky.  This is an experience that gets you under the skin of Africa.  And it's as different to everyday life as you can get and still have a smile on your face at the end of the day.

Mobile safari camps are all about privacy, the possibility of real flexibility in planning the route you take on safari and, perhaps most importantly, seeing the wildlife on your own terms. Game drives aren't scheduled, but planned between you and your guide.  You may choose to leave camp at dawn and return at dusk, or decide to lie in, have a lazy breakfast and watch what happens from camp.

The mobility allows you to respond to game movements and access the best action in a way that a static safari lodges just cannot do. In some places the mobile safari camps are simply the best way to leave the other tourists behind and immerse yourself in the wild, where there are no permanent camps.
