Oct - Dec - On Safari October to December
October marks the peak of the dry season across much of Sub Saharan Africa. In many places this is a time of extremes; lack of water sources in many places forces animals into a limited range, making them - and attendant predators - easier to see. This is nowehere more so than Katavi in western Tanzania. Heat can be intense at this time of year also, so this is something to balance against potential superb game viewing.
November is generally the time when things green up - baobabs come into leaf, many migrant bird species will have arrived and many others are in breeding plummage. Game can disperse in some areas at this time, but it's often a less expensive time to visit. Chimp tracking in the Mahale Mountains can ge very good at this time of year. November is one of the best months for diving in the Indian Ocean
December sees the Serengeti Wildebeest Migration heading south to the Southern Serengeti Plains. This is a great month to be in Kenya - game is always good in the Masai Mara while the clear air and warm climate make the Laikipia Plateau a good choice. Views of Kilimanjaro from the Chyulu Hills are spectacular.
