On foot - Walking safaris
Walking is without a doubt one of the most rewarding ways to see the African bush and something we would encourage every one to try at some stage, to some degree. Though there are many places where walking may be strenuous, walking in Africa is often quite the opposite.
As a basic rule, the more game there is, the slower you go and, equally, the slower you go the more you are likely to see (this explains why people who are looking for birds always see so much game). It usually pays to walk as if there is an elephant around the other side of every bush and this is for a couple of good reasons: firstly there often is, and secondly, making this assumption puts you in a receptive frame of mind, heightens your senses and lets you see a great deal more of your surroundings than if you simply march.
Walks can be arranged for anything from an hour or two from your camp to a full walking safari supported with a lightweight camp over many days. Some of the most beautiful and striking parts of Africa are accessible only by foot.
