An intimate, authentic safari experience with good access to Linyanti and Savute

Like sister camp Khwai Tented Camp, Saile delivers an authentic safari experience without the thorns in your backside or the crawling around in mini-tents trying to dredge your shirt out of your unpacked bag.  The surroundings and wildlife are the focus and the camp is set up to ensure your proximity whilst still enjoying a hot shower, comfy bed and great food.

Saile occupies an unusual but good location in the Chobe Enclave; on the Linyanti but with access to the Savute region of Chobe National Park.  There are very few other camps in this neck of the woods so you can be pretty sure of having the place to yourself.  Furthermore, this is a tiny camp with only 4 tents.  En-suite, Meru-style tents with flush loo and bucket showers, the tents are in the ilk of traditional safaris where the camp would move with the party.

Activities are based around game drives and walking in the immediate area but day trips with a packed lunch can be arranged to the Savute Marsh.  Benefitting from both the riverine and dry habitats of this part of the Linyanti, wildlife is numerous and varied. Linyanti and Savute are particularly known for elephant, buffalo, lion, hyena and wild dog in addition to numerous zebra and wildebeest that migrate through the area during the rains.

Chobe Enclave

Chobe Enclave is a triangle of land surrounded on two sides by the Chobe National Park and along the north by the Linyanti marsh.  There are few camps in this area which, despite not being within the National Park, enjoys the game rich habitats of both the Linyanti and Chobe Savute.  The area is a community trust, meaning that local people benefit from tourism and natural resource management within the concession and have an active hand in decision-making. Botswana

Safaris in Botswana offer dramatic extremes.  One the one hand, the lush landscapes of the Okavango Delta and the Linyanti/Chobe River systems, on the other, the beautiful other-worldly expanse of the Makgadikgadi Pans and the Kalahari Desert.  The variety of habitats makes for varied animal and birdlife as well as beautiful scenery.   Strict controls mean that Botswana safari camps and lodges are generally small, and due to the tricky logistics of operating in a delta or a desert, a safari here is seldom cheap, and it's important to know where to go if you are looking for that authentic safari experience.
