Luxury lodge where game viewing by boat or vehicle can be combined with a thorough pamper in the spa - no luxury spared.

Chobe Chilwero occupies a beautiful location overlooking the expansive waterways and reed-beds characteristic of this part of the Chobe River. Not far from Kasane town, within the Kasane Forest Reserve which forms part of the Chobe National Park, the lodge is more of a boutique hotel than a rustic bush lodge; elegantly furnished and equipped replete with wine cellar and luxury spa treatments available. This is the type of place you stop off for a real pampering so if lying in a hammock in your private garden, lounging in a sunken bath or having your very own mud and rock-salt massage appeals...then you can't go wrong.

This is not the kind of place the more intrepid bush-whackers should choose if in search of the 'real African experience': there may be a bit too much by way of amenities, but for those that do enjoy air conditioning and other creature comforts plus a bit of indulgence, Chilwero has it all.

The lodge is well placed to take full advantage of game viewing both from open vehicles in Chobe National Park or from the river in a comfortable motor-boat, which gives you a totally different perspective. To see elephants swimming and drinking from the safety of a comfortable boat is really an amazing experience. It is also possible to do a day trip to Victoria Falls from here which offers a host of entertainment from bungee jumping to scenic flights, white water rafting to elephant riding.

Serondela, in the extreme north-east of the park is made up of lush plains and forest thickets while Savuti Marsh and the Linyanti Swamps are an important source of water to the west and north-west respectively. Botswana

Safaris in Botswana offer dramatic extremes.  One the one hand, the lush landscapes of the Okavango Delta and the Linyanti/Chobe River systems, on the other, the beautiful other-worldly expanse of the Makgadikgadi Pans and the Kalahari Desert.  The variety of habitats makes for varied animal and birdlife as well as beautiful scenery.   Strict controls mean that Botswana safari camps and lodges are generally small, and due to the tricky logistics of operating in a delta or a desert, a safari here is seldom cheap, and it's important to know where to go if you are looking for that authentic safari experience.
