A great option for those wanted to explore the Delta on foot
Footsteps provides the base for making your own tracks through the Delta. Specifically geared for walking safaris (although mokoro trips and game drives may be incorporated depending on the water levels), the camp offers the opportunity to meet Africa on it's own terms, sans vehicle, sans anything but your own pegs, a really experienced and knowledgeable guide and the endless maze of islands, floodplains and wildlife at your feet. The camp is on the northern edge of the delta in a private concession and is simple but comfortable in true mobile style; traditional khaki safari tents with a private bush shower and toilet and the obligatory camp fire around which to enjoy your well-earned g'n't at the end of the day.
You don't have to be super fit to embark on walks from here, just healthy and a bit resilient. The guides here are well trained in animal behaviour and always put your safety first, but that doesn't blunt the thrill you'll get of seeing even an impala while on foot. Once you've tracked wildlife on foot, you'll find it a very addictive experience.

The Okavango Delta is the largest inland Delta in the world and is incomparable to any other game destination in Africa. A vast spread of channels, lagoons, forests and reed islands spreads across northern Botswana and disappears into the sands of the Kalahari. As you can imagine, birdlife is amazing here and game viewing too is very special; not only because of the variety and number of animals but also because you can do a great deal by boat, giving a totally different perspective to the traditional bumpy, dusty game drives. One the one hand, the lush landscapes of the Okavango Delta and the Linyanti/Chobe River systems, on the other, the beautiful other-worldly expanse of the Makgadikgadi Pans and the Kalahari Desert.
