Simple but well designed tented camp with good game both from the camp and while out and about
Little Vumbura is on the northern edge of the Delta in the 100,000ha Kwedi Reserve. The camp is approached by means of a long wooden walkway, hidden amongst shady trees at the edge of the floodplains. It is a small, comfortable camp that providing excellent game viewing opportunities.
Game drives, mokoro, boat trips and guided walks are all offered here and the combination of both wetland and savannah gives you the chance to see sable, kudu and wildebeest as well as Lechwe and waterbuck and the birdlife also reflects the varied topography. The big cats (especially cheetah), wild dog, elephant and are regularly sighted from the camp. Little Vumbura strikes a good balance between comfort, style and is neither too plush nor rough and rugged.

The Okavango Delta is the largest inland Delta in the world and is incomparable to any other game destination in Africa. A vast spread of channels, lagoons, forests and reed islands spreads across northern Botswana and disappears into the sands of the Kalahari. As you can imagine, birdlife is amazing here and game viewing too is very special; not only because of the variety and number of animals but also because you can do a great deal by boat, giving a totally different perspective to the traditional bumpy, dusty game drives. Botswana safaris offer dramatic extremes. On the one hand, the lush landscapes of the Okavango Delta and the Linyanti and Chobe River systems, on the other, the beautiful other-worldly expanse of the Makgadikgadi Pans and the Kalahari Desert. The variety of habitats makes for varied animal and birdlife as well as beautiful scenery. Strict controls mean that Botswana safari camps and lodges are generally small, and due to the tricky logistics of operating in a delta or a desert, safaris in Botswana are seldom cheap. There are however many excellent options to consider. Top of the list in our opinion are some of Botswana's mobile safari camps, these come in a couple of basic shapes, both of which are aimed at giving you a private experience using private campsites in quiet remote locations. We use luxury moble camps and light mobile camps to great effect here and this is certainly something to consider if you're looking for great value and a unique experience. Read more?
