With awe-inspiring views of Kanchndzonga and the Singalila range of the Himalaya, Yangsum Farm is a super homestay near Rinchenpong, about an hour’s drive from Pelling in western Sikkim. Your lovely hosts manage a 44 acre organic mountain farm surrounded by forests of pine, magnolia and rhododendron and many of the delicious meals are prepared from their own produce.
The accommodation is simple and rustic with five wood paneled rooms in the Tibetan style and private bathrooms with hot and cold running water. The house has electricity though the supply may be interrupted at times. This is a fabulous place for gentle walks and an insight into local Buddhist culture and life in the foothills of the Himalaya.

With its fresh mountain air, pine forests, snow-fed rivers and lakes and thousands of varieties of wild flowers it’s easy to understand why the original inhabitants of Sikkim call it Ley Mayal – Heaven. Wedged in between Tibet, Nepal, Bhutan and West Bengal the former kingdom of Sikkim is a tiny mountainous state in northeast India.
