Diani Beach
& the Kenyan Coast

Diani Beach is one of the most popular destinations on Kenya’s coast. A mix of amazing private homes and stylish resort hotels, it manages to retain its identity, and provide fun for all.

EXPLORE

Diani Beach Holidays & Safaris

Once a quaint Kenyan fishing village, its pristine white sands have made Diani Beach holidays becoming one of the most picturesque, sought-after destinations for those visiting Africa.

Covering around 15 kilometres of Kenya’s south coast, Diani Beach stretches out into the Indian Ocean, lined with coral, and backed by verdant expanses of palm trees. This lush backdrop not only makes it an indisputable African gem, but a perfect place to head after your safari holiday.

Although its scenery is far more readily associated with a traditional beach break, its location proximity to the small town of Ukunda, and the larger city of Mombasa, allows easy access out of the bush.

There are plenty of conservation sites in the area, helping protect rare African primates. Meanwhile, a more traditional experience can be easily had a little while up the road from Diani Beach, on safari at the nearby Shimba Hills reserve, where you’ll experience zebras, buffalo and other lesser-spotted species.

However, a visit to this Kenyan paradise is also a mecca for those who love experiencing exotic marine life up close and personal. Watersports and snorkelling are a must, but to really get a different perspective of the diverse range of creatures in sparkling blue waters, head out on a traditional dhow boat.

A Diani dhow lets you take to the Indian Ocean in a manned vessel, spending the day out in the waters, with options for snorkelling and scuba diving to see all manner of fish, turtles, and even dolphins. Truly, explorers and pleasure-seekers alike will find something to treasure on a unique Diani Beach holiday.

Top Reasons To Visit Diani Beach & Kenyan Coast

Often the best safaris involve looking beyond the obvious highlights. It’s about the exhilarating encounters that will make your heart sing. These are encounters that nobody could ever predict, but that make your safari genuinely unique.

Best Time To Visit Diani Beach

Soak up the sun from January to March, and June to October

Temperatures at Diani Beach are consistently high, but visitors wanting to make the most of their experience may prefer to visit when the sun is at its peak.

In fact, you will be most likely to soak up the sun in February, which is the peak of summertime in Kenya. The warm weather and cloudless skies provide the perfect conditions at sea, with ocean waters you can see clear through.

However, we often recommend avoiding the rush during the warm African winter from June until August. Nominally, our summertime may be winter in Kenya, but the temperature will still soar, with minimal chance of rain. Despite the favourable conditions, and minimal humidity, these months are quieter, meaning that you’re likely to be able to enjoy deserted white sandy beaches and low season prices on your Diani Beach holiday.
