Kiwayu describes the island and facing mainland that lies a fair distance north of Lamu

Kiwayu describes the island and facing mainland that lies a fair distance north of Lamu. Remote and undeveloped except for two small lodges, the area is, however served by a regular schedule flight from Nairobi.

It's a beautiful area of remote beaches, small local fishing villages and mangrove forest and if your budget and time allows, is one of the most beautiful areas of the Kenyan coast to visit. The coral reefs around this area are also stunning and have been spared a lot of the damage visited upon the more accessible ones.
