Miles and miles of Africa before you, and a well-rounded, safe lodge with with all the toys

What really hits you at Loisaba is the impressive landscape - views across miles of the bush land of Laikipia, and too big to even begin to capture in a photograph. There are a few ways to stay at Loisaba, of which the lodge is the most conventional and least exciting. But it is the centre of operations, so this where you get your massage, do a spot of souvenir shopping, pick up your quad bike or have a quick, rather bumpy game of tennis.

It's also one of the few places in the bush that you can plug in a hair drier. The rooms at Loisaba aren't impressive, being somewhat small and ordinary. But unlike most rooms around the Kenya wilderness, they actually have four square walls and real doors that you can close.

If you think all the wild and exotic bush glamour might make you feel uncomfortable, this could possibly rebalance you. Loisaba Lodge is for people who'd prefer a golf club atmosphere to the razzle, dazzle and dust of safari. Rooms are sensible, but certainly not over generous, and it feels like it could do with a bit of a revamp. The decor is of a good standard, big leather chairs, lots of heavy textiles and some great pictures.

Laikipia

Laikipia lies outside the jurisdiction of National Parks, and is somewhere to get out of a vehicle and embrace the numerous safari activities that Kenya has to offer. Read more?

Kenya

Kenya is the most established safari country, and consequently you have to step a little off the conventional route to find real wilderness, but it’s certainly there.  Kenya also has much going for it as a family destination, and also a good number of very individual safari camps and lodges with a personal approach that makes your experience very special.  Kenya also has a particularly diverse ecology which ranges from snowy mountains to true desert, rolling grassy plains filled with wildlife to craggy scrub intersected with dry riverbeds, sparkling beaches and volcanic ranges.
