An important flamingo refuge, Lake Bogoria lies between Baringo and Nakuru and is a park that seldom features on itineraries. It's a small park and accommodation options are limited to a choice of one slightly unremarkable lodge.

The reserve has a bit of a neglected air and since there is scarce grazing, not many animals. However bird-life is good here, particularly for waders, if you have the opportunity to explore, and the fig forest at the eastern end is unusual and feels like a bit of a lost world (watch out for the sandwich-pinching baboons here, though). There are a number of hot springs on the edge of Bogoria, one of which is still a favourite with some of the canny Nairobi residents who sometimes end up soaking in the warm water with a cold Tusker beer at the end of a safari. Whether this is strictly allowed, no one seems to object.
