The Nairobi Serena is part of a luxury chain of hotels and as such, lacks the personal service enjoyed at the smaller hotels. Although the interiors are nicely done and the staff friendly, the 'back of house' can be inefficient. Extras (drinks and use of additional facilities) can be very pricey and one can end up feeling a little exploited after a stay where, given that it is not a destination as such, there doesn't seem much in the way of return on investment.
