Pemba town on the north Mozambique coast (not to be confused with Tanzania's Pemba Island) is absolutely fine as far as towns go but there isn't that much going for it that you would want to travel miles particularly to stay here.  Due to flight scheduling, sometimes it is necessary to stop over here before travelling on to the Niassa Reserve or Quirimbas Archipelago.

If you are going to travel all this way, then you are probably heading for the remote islands, but there are one or two places on the mainland which are reasonable (in both offering and value).  However, we would conclude that the islands take the prize.
