Good value, contemporary and convenient for Etosha

The Bush Camp is a fun and funky semi-tented camp aimed at those that are slightly more budget conscious or who enjoy a relaxed and informal atmosphere. A little larger than {Mushara Lodge} at sixteen tents, the camp is still small enough not to feel over-crowded. The decor is modern with fun colours and comfortable lounge areas. There is a pool around which to relax during the heat of the day.

Although the camp promotes its family offering (there is even a playground and big boxes of toys), the “family tentsî are only really appropriate for one small child as the extra bed is effectively a sleeper-couch at the end of the double bed. The bathrooms too are a little small and not very private, especially if you are not sharing with a spouse or partner.

However, the food here is delicious, especially the breakfast and the a la carte menu of light lunchtime meals which includes such dainties as smoked salmon bagels and pasta with fresh herbs. There is also a tea and coffee station in each tent which is a nice touch.

All game drives are conducted within Etosha National Park, as Mushara does not have its own conservancy. However, the camp is only 14km from the von Lindequist Gate so the Park is pretty accessible and since rates are on a dinner, bed & breakfast basis, it is a sensible and affordable option for self-drive safaris. Guided drives can be done from the camp at an additional cost.

Etosha National Park

The Etosha National Park lies to the north of the country and covers a whopping 22,000km². The actual Pan, formerly an ancient lake, dominates the eastern side of the park at over 100km wide. Standing on the edge, this immense dry white crust dances with mirages in the heat and you can see the curvature of the earth. Read more?
