A beautifully styled contemporary tented camp with the advantage of game viewing on the reserve

The tented camp is rather modestly named since it is far more a luxury tented lodge. Great, beige canopied tents are draped above wooden floors, raised slightly from the ground. Interesting and contemporary decor fills both the public areas and the seven guest tents so you feel as though you are staying in some Capetonian boutique camp. The details in the construction alone are sufficient to hold your interest for a good while.

When not examining the textures of the walls or your neighbour’s armchair, you can watch the comings and goings of the local wildlife and the nearby waterhole. There is also a pleasant little pool and plenty of funky, comfy places for you to rest up between rigorous game viewing.

Onguma has the benefit of a private reserve and proximity to the Namutoni Gate of Etosha. Consequently you can be sure of maximising your time on the hunt for the wildlife and less time in transit. You can also choose to enjoy a drive within the Reserve if you’ve seen enough of the park or if you like the idea of a night drive: there are leopard, lion, elephant and rhino in addition to plenty of other species of animals and birds. In fact, the camp is unfenced so there’s a chance that some of these will even wonder by the waterhole during lunch.

The Tented Camp is ideal for those that prefer to be under canvas, but not at the expense of creature comforts. It’s in a good location for the wildlife and you can be sure of plenty of r&r in between.

Etosha National Park

The Etosha National Park lies to the north of the country and covers a whopping 22,000km². The actual Pan, formerly an ancient lake, dominates the eastern side of the park at over 100km wide. Standing on the edge, this immense dry white crust dances with mirages in the heat and you can see the curvature of the earth. Read more?
