Impalila is a small island at the confluence of the Chobe and Zambezi Rivers and where Zambia, Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe all converge

Impalila is a small island at the confluence of the Chobe and Zambezi Rivers and where Zambia, Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe all converge. This is a landscape of floodplains, reedbeds and channels amongst which a wide variety of bird and animal life congregate. Impalila is close to Chobe National Park in Botswana, well known for elephant that habitually cross the river, trunks held aloft like snorkels. Buffalo, reedbuck and lechwe are often seen grazing on the exposed islands and there are always heaps of waders to look at.

Impalila offers guests the opportunity to experience wildlife from the unique perspective of the water. From small launches, you can approach elephant while they are drinking. You can also try your hand at snagging a Tiger-fish, whose sharp teeth and aggressive temperament gives any seasoned fisherman a run for his money.

There are a number of accommodation options here which include both lodges on the islands or houseboats that cruise the wide reaches of the Chobe River.
