Wolwedans Private Reserve

Wolwedans is a private reserve within the wider Namib-Naukluft area.  It is a place of surreal natural beauty, characterised by the rich red sand of the Namib, and the craggy creased mountains of the Naukluft.  A ridge of partially vegetated dunes runs along its centre, providing a perfect vantage point for the Dune Lodge and Dune Camp. 

Simply sitting and absorbing the views, enhanced by the changing light of day or the stars at night, is a perfect occupation.  For those that like to be active, late afternoon drives to enjoy the desert scenery or spot the surprisingly numerous wildlife species of the area are a must.  Alternatively, you can head skywards and get a different perspective from a hot air balloon.

Wolwedans is one of the most striking areas of the Namib Desert, but it's a little bit far away to visit Sossusvlei by car, although you can arrange a flight by plane or balloon from which you will see this special place (securing you a private viewing as opposed to scrumming down with the masses).
