Dar es Salaam is sadly lacking in small luxury hotels so Alexander’s Hotel along with {Oyster Bay Hotel} is filling a niche nicely.   Alexander's is an relatively new, privately owned boutique Hotel.  It is located in the residential area of Msasani peninsular, close to the yacht club, and provides its guests with a comfortable 'home from home' atmosphere, whilst being perfectly placed for easy access to the city center.

Your hosts are great characters and will do all they can to make your stay comfortable. The guest rooms are cool and spacious and are all located around the pool.

There is a first class restaurant where the emphasis is on seafood which is readily available fresh from the the Indian Ocean. Enjoy a meal with a bottle of wine from the cellar, or kick back and relax at rooftop bar with its great views of Msasani Bay.

Alexander’s Hotel is very reasonably priced and a great alternative to the larger {Southern Sun Hotel} or the more expensive {Oyster Bay Hotel}.

Dar Es Salaam

Dar es Salaam is a large, industrial and, in all honesty, mostly uninspiring city. People never tire of telling you that the name means "haven of peace", but nowadays, as you fight your way through the traffic, this just sounds like a bad joke.  Of course it's unfair to deny that Dar does have something of its own unmistakable character, so if you're spending a night here out of necessity there's enough here to be of interest and, on the positive side, these days there are also some great little boutique hotels springing up, which mean that you can stay in real comfort and eat extremely well. Unlike the old days when dinner and enjoying the view of a city-wide power cut from the roof terrace of the then Kilimanjaro Hotel was as good as it got... Read more?

Tanzania

Tanzania safaris rival a safari any other country in Africa in terms of sheer wilderness, formidable landscapes and volume of wildlife.  At Natural High, we have travelled all over the country, worked in some of its best Tanzania safari camps and lodges and flown all over as bush pilots so we feel qualified to venture such opinions.
