Katavi Wilderness Camp is where you turn if you think Chada Camp sounds too staid. This little camp, private, simple in design and unassuming, quite simply offers one of the richest safari experiences available. There are few props here; no spas, TVs or crazy-golf on offer, and the camp relies on those illusive, but definitive ingredients; superb service and guiding, total privacy and, most importantly, front row seats at a private wilderness experience startlingly at odds with anything you'll experience in the course of your daily life.
We've used this camp for extensive expedition style safaris, lead by specialist guides in the extremities of Katavi, far from any other camp and miles beyond the reach of game drives. This is quite simply about getting the best wildlife experience you can in Katavi.
This doesn't come cheap and your money wont buy you as much material luxury as some camps, but in terms of overall quality and authenticity - your guide, the professionalism of the crew and the outrageous reality of having your own private tented camp in this little visited corner of Western Tanzania - this is hard to beat. The camp is owned and operated by Nomad Tanzania, who have many years of experience running mobile camps in the North of Tanzania as well as Chada Camp.
We had the most fabulous time and are still desperately missing the Bush, especially the sounds that one can't possibly explain to others. I had considered taking a little hand recorder with me but decided against the idea on the grounds of weight. I so wish I had done so.

Everything went really smoothly, with Katavi being the clear high light. The guide and staff were great, as was the solitude, just the right level for us. We saw every thing to tick all the boxes, including leopard in the last 10 minutes. All your help was greatly appreciated.

We just got back on Monday after our 3 weeks in the bush and we had a fantastic trip - thanks to Natural High for organising everything. We saw all of the game that we could imagine and a total of 250 species of birds, the overall experience was quite overwhelming. We had a wonderful trip.

Katavi National Park is remote, undeveloped and, at certain times of year, bristling with big wild animals. Until just a few years ago Chada Camp was the only place to stay and it was very little visited with the only access being via one of two little planes that ground their way between here and Arusha (one flown by the then owner of Chada, Roland Purcell, and the other by Alex in pre Natural High days).
