Game drives, walking and flycamps

Palahala tented camp is one of the new arrivals in Katavi. It's a small bush camp on a river in the northern end of Katavi National Park, not far from the escarpment. The remote location is such that the nearest neighbours are over an hours drive away.

Katavi is still relatively untouched, how long it remain in this pristine state is difficult to say but for now it is able to retain that wonderful sense of remote wilderness. The park is remarkably diverse with a mixure of rivers, waterholes, palm groves, forests and plains and has very few roads and it therefore lends itself to being an excellent area for walking.

The camp has 8 walk-in tents, elegantly furnished and decorated and at night your pathways are lit with kerosene lamps. The standards are high and the food, service and guiding are all good.

Katavi National Park

Katavi National Park is remote, undeveloped and, at certain times of year, bristling with big wild animals. Until just a few years ago Chada Camp was the only place to stay and it was very little visited with the only access being via one of two little planes that ground their way between here and Arusha (one flown by the then owner of Chada, Roland Purcell, and the other by Alex in pre Natural High days). Tanzania

Tanzania safaris rival a safari any other country in Africa in terms of sheer wilderness, formidable landscapes and volume of wildlife.  At Natural High, we have travelled all over the country, worked in some of its best Tanzania safari camps and lodges and flown all over as bush pilots so we feel qualified to venture such opinions.
