Mto Wa Umbu literally means "Mosquito River

Mto Wa Umbu literally means "Mosquito River." How refreshing to find somewhere that hasn’t succumbed to the pressures of the modern world of marketing and rebranded itself…This is where Iain and Oria Douglas Hamilton based them selves in the 1960s for their ground breaking research on the elephants of Lake Manyara and nowadays is a small, but thriving little market town on the main drag to the Serengeti and Ngorongoro.
