Ras Kutani is a short distance south of Dar es Salaam. This is somewhere it's seriously worth considering if Zanzibar doesn't appeal or sounds a bit too busy. As a beach location, Zanzibar is always difficult to compete with, but that does also mean that this part of the coast is quiet and relatively little visited. If you're after a place to just relax, enjoy a bit of swimming and views of the sea, then there are one or two great places to look at in this area.
