This little camp, private, simple in design and unassuming quite simply offers one of the richest safari experiences available. There are few props here; no spas, TVs or archery on offer, and the camp relies on those illusive, but definitive ingredients; superb service and guiding, total privacy and most importantly front row seats at a private wilderness experience startlingly at odds with anything you'll experience in the course of your daily life.

Loliondo Wilderness Camp is a private mobile tented camp that moves with you on your safari. It's one of the more exclusive ways to experience Loliondo at your own pace, whether game driving, on a walking safari or a combination of both. The camp gives you real flexibility, allowing you to move every couple of days and we believe that in terms of experience this is the best way to see not only Loliondo, but also Serengeti National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater and Highlands.

The tents are slightly smaller than Nomad's Serengeti Safari Camp (the obvious alternative) but still large walk-in ones. The beds are camp beds and the loos are outside instead of being ensuite, but what you gain is fantastic. The camp is private. Just for you. And though you may think this sounds excessive, there is nothing like coming back to your own camp, run by a small professional crew to find hot showers are waiting for you, followed by drinks around the fire and properly good food - a three course meal in the camp's mess tent or better still under the stars - you decide.

Loliondo Mobile Camp has all the elements that ensure that you're comfortable - great food, cold drinks, impeccable service, but it's designed to be lightweight enough to be moved every couple of days. This means that it's by definition more basic than many of the "luxury" options, but in terms of overall experience it's very difficult to beat. The camp is designed to get you away from most other tourists to a point where you can still feel the soul of the Loliondo and the Serengeti, it's dramatic stuff!

Just a note to let you know that our trip to Tanzania was spectacular. We had the best guide who was most knowledgeable and great fun to be with. The tents and yurts were wonderful and the food was delicious. We were blessed with excellent weather and saw every animal possible and plenty of action among the big cats. It was unforgettable and I miss it already.

C S and family March 2010

We have now returned from our wonderful holiday in Tanzania and would like to thank Natural High Safaris for the excellent organization of this safari. Everything worked like a treat, there were always people to meet us on arrival in each stop and everything that we had read and been told about at each place, was as described.

Loliondo

Loliondo could perhaps be described as the Serengeti with fewer rules, offering as it does excellent walking safaris, night drives and for much of the year rewarding game viewing. Spanning the entire eastern edge of the Serengeti National Park, it's a critical part of the whole ecosystem - yet visited by remarkably few tourists.  Loliondo is actually a huge Maasai community area but in our opinion is worth treating as a separate park because the range of safari activities on offer here is significantly greater than those within the Serengeti National Park boundaries. For much of the year, you'll find that we recommend that you divide your stay in both the Serengeti and Loliondo, staying at camps like Nomad's Nduara Loliondo. The intention here is that you get to see the wildebeest migration whilst also experiencing the wilder side of this stunning area. Read more?

Tanzania

Tanzania safaris rival a safari any other country in Africa in terms of sheer wilderness, formidable landscapes and volume of wildlife.  At Natural High, we have travelled all over the country, worked in some of its best Tanzania safari camps and lodges and flown all over as bush pilots so we feel qualified to venture such opinions.
