Serian Maswa Serengeti is run by Alex Walker and his team.   It is a superb camp set under the deep shade of large umbrella acacia.   The camp is a classic East African affair with an opulent feel.   The 8 huge Meru style tents are swathed in cotton creating a fresh and romantic feel and for those who like their comforts in the bush, the bathroom is fully plumbed.

The camp itself is on the periphery of the southern Serengeti grasslands and sits on the border of the Serengeti National Park and the Ngorongoro Conservation area and is within easy striking distance of Lake Ndutu 40 kms to the north-east.  It is serviced by it's own airstrip and you can arrive by light aircraft or helicopter.

Serian Maswa camp has exclusive use of the area and you can walk, game drive off road, night drive, fly camp, climb the kopjes as well as of course have easy access into the Serengeti itself.

If you have time, you can drive down to Lake Eyasi and spend some time hunting with the Hudzabe - although do not expect the Hudazbe to be expecting you or to make any provision for your coming - they get on with their own lives and you can join in - so if they are not hunting, but sitting around smoking - so will you!

Serengeti Maswa

Maswa Makau is the southern most section of the Maswa Game Reserve, a 203,500 acre reserve to the south west of the Serengeti, abutting the short grass plains themselves. Maswa shares a boundary of some 60 kilometers with the Serengeti National Park and the area is dominated by acacia woodland interspersed by craggy kopjes and the occasional Maswa woodland.  Read more?
