Exclusive and remote game & camping experience

Guide Price: From: $450 To: $730

The Serengeti Wilderness Mobile camp is a private tented camp that moves with you in the middle of one of the best game areas in the world. This little camp, private, simple in design and unassuming quite simply offers one of the richest safari experiences available. There are few props here; no spas, TVs or archery on offer, and the camp relies on those illusive, but definitive ingredients; superb service and guiding, total privacy and  - most importantly - front row seats at a private wilderness experience startlingly at odds with anything you'll experience in the course of your daily life.

Without a doubt the most exclusive way to experience the Greater Serengeti at your own pace, whether game driving, on a walking safari or a combination of both. These camps give you real flexibility, allowing you to move every couple of days, and we actually think this is the best way to see Serengeti National Park, Loliondo and the Ngorongoro Crater and Highlands.

The tents are slightly smaller than Nomad's Serengeti Safari Camp, but still large walk-in ones, the beds are camp beds and the loos are outside instead of being ensuite, but what you gain is fantastic. The camp is private. Just for you. And though you may think this sounds excessive, there is nothing like coming back to your own camp, run by a small professional crew to find hot showers are waiting for you, followed by drinks around the fire and properly good food - a three course meal in the camp's mess tent or better still under the stars - you decide.

It has all the elements that ensure that you are comfortable - great food, cold drinks, impeccable service, but it's designed to be lightweight enough to be moved every couple of days. The camp crew seriously know what they are doing, they're great people with whom you'll build up a rapport over your safari and their enthusiasm and professionalism are a great mix that adds enormously to the pleasure of the experience.

The camps get you away from most other tourists to a point where you can still feel the soul of the Serengeti. The migration is without a doubt mind blowing and absolutely not to be missed, but it's a real mistake not to see more of the Serengeti than just the area where the wildebeest happen to be.

These camps give you the flexibility not only to make sure you are camped within striking range of where the migration is, but also to explore different parts of the park. Add to this the fact that most people don't do this and you quickly realise that much of the Serengeti is virtually empty (of tourists not game) when the wildebeest have moved on.

We have now returned from our wonderful holiday in Tanzania and would like to thank Natural High Safaris for the excellent organization of this safari. Everything worked like a treat, there were always people to meet us on arrival in each stop and everything that we had read and been told about at each place, was as described.

C & L H Feb 2010

The game viewing was wonderful at Serengeti and we were amazed by what we saw – on the final evening drive a leopard in a tree came down as he heard the distress call of a dik dik being attacked by a cobra - The leopard was going for the cobra but darkness fell and we had to return to camp so never knew the outcome!

Serengeti National Park - the Southern Plains

This area is dominated by the vast and seemingly endless short grass plains, stretching southwards from Naabi Hill farther than the eye can see - towards the extinct volcanoes of the Ngorongoro Highlands directly south, the Maswa woodlands in the south west and the dramatic Gol Mountains and open plains of Loliondo to the south east and east respectively. The southern plains are at their best between mid December and late May when this whole area comes alive as millions of wildebeest move onto the plains in search of the fresh green grass after the first rains. Tanzania safaris rival a safari any other country in Africa in terms of sheer wilderness, formidable landscapes and volume of wildlife.  At Natural High, we have travelled all over the country, worked in some of its best Tanzania safari camps and lodges and flown all over as bush pilots so we feel qualified to venture such opinions.
