A pretty, remote and intimate bush camp in the northwest of the Kafue.

Busanga was the first camp built in the remote northwest of Kafue. This comfortable and traditional tented camp is under a canopy of shady trees looking out onto the extensive Busanga plains. Between mid June and October (the dry season in Kafue) the plains team with game, while in the wet they flood, creating islands to resemble a mini Okavango delta.

Busanga Bush Camp has 4 tents (but takes a maximum of 6 people.  They have reed walls and a canvas roof and opened at the front onto a small sitting area. Busanga manages to be wonderfully simple without denying you of any creature comforts and will certainly appeal to safari purists.

Kafue National Park

Kafue is Zambia's oldest park and, at 22,400 square kilometres, it's one of the larger national park in Africa. The park is supplied by 3 rivers, namely the Kafue, Lunga and the Lufupa and the Busanga Swamp is one of Zambia's most prominent wetland resources.  The surrounding Busanga Plains are partially flooded during the rains but are left rich and lush when the water recedes from around May, attracting great numbers of herbivores.  Along with many other species, this area is home to thousands of red lechwe which in turn attract the many lion, leopard and even cheetah to the area.
