The Liuwa plains lie virtually undiscovered in the west of Zambia near the border to Angola

The Liuwa plains lie virtually undiscovered in the west of Zambia near the border to Angola. There are no lodges or camps, or visitors facilities in the area.

The park is made up of grassy plains and a number of pans and is fed by the Luambimba and Luanginga Rivers. The wildlife is abundant with zebras, many different species of antelope, predators such as lion and hyena and large herds of wildebeests. The park is however, very extensive and sometimes the game is very dispersed and can take a while to find. The birdlife is also good, with many migratory birds seen as they head southwards.

Robin Pope mobile safaris operate in Liuwa with a few set departures each year - led by Robin.
