Game drives, night drives, canoe safaris, boat trips, limited walking, fishing

Kasaka is a less expensive option than most of the other camps and lodges in Lower Zambezi and is particularly geared up for families.   It is slightly larger than the other camps and lodges being able to take up to 22 people.  They have a “wild sideÇ?? and a “tame sideÇ?? to the lodge. Both sides are connected to the main area by high walkways over dongas that are used by both elephant and hippo to get to and from the Zambezi. It is rather fun to be above the animals watching them beneath you.

The tents are comfortable and functional and have very nice light bathrooms built on the back. The honeymoon suite is on the wild side and has its own private deck. The wild side has been left as bush and has another 3 tents.

On the tame side, there are more manicured lawns with small swimming pool and areas for children to play football etc. Two of the tents are connected with a sitting room and there is suite called Hippo pod which has a double and twin room and possible other twin room with deck and self contained area for children.

They offer "poo walks," quizzes, village walks and all sorts of activities to keep children amused.

There is a lot of game that wanders through the camp and last year the swimming pool was used as a water hole by a young, bull elephant.

The lodge is outside the park and is about 20 minutes by vehicle from the park gates.   You are able to game drive, night drive, canoe (for those over 12 years) and do river trips/sunset cruises by boat.    The camp staff and extremely welcoming and it is a very friendly place to stay and good value for money.

Accommodation:

22 beds divided between wild and tame side, Particularly good for families. Swimming pool.

Experience:

Game drives, night drives, canoe safaris, boat trips, limited walking, fishing

Lower Zambezi National Park

Lower Zambezi National Park, in the south central part of Zambia, lies on the banks of the Zambezi River some way down stream from Kariba Dam and well below the Victoria Falls. The river is more than a mile wide at places and the current is generally languid as the river makes its way gradually towards Mozambique. Read more?
