Predominatey walking safaris with some game drives.

Bilimungwe is one of the most southerly bushcamps in the South Luangwa and uniquely positioned to overlook a lagoon on one side and a floodplain on the other (so almost an island).  The varied topography makes for interesting game viewing from both the private verandahs of the stone and thatch cottages or out and about on walks and game drives.

Primarily a walking area (although day and night drives are offered here too), Bilimungwe is often used in conjunction with a couple of the other bushcamps (such as Kapamba, Chindeni or Chamilandu, where you can drive or walk from camp to camp, exploring each area for a few nights in between.

The camp itself is beautifully done - more of a contemporary style camp than some of the more rustic ones seen elsewhere in the valley.  It still retains the charm of a small place, with a handful of very attentive staff and an emphasis on lovely fresh cuisine and great service.

South Luangwa National Park

The Luangwa Valley is probably Zambia's best known wildlife area. As well as having very good all-round game, Luangwa is somewhere that has gained a well deserved reputation for walking safaris, though there is a great deal more to do above and beyond. The park consists of large amounts of woodland; miombo interspersed with grass lands in the north of the park and large stands of mature ebony forming deep shade along the banks of the river.
