A luxury lodge with spa facilities offering walks, boat trips and drives

The Luangwa River Camp is a relatively rare beast in Zambia's bush areas: a boutique spa with a polished, stylish appearance and clearly a great investment in getting the design just right.  Fortunately, with the spit and polish, it hasn't become too much of a hotel and manages to make the most of the natural aesthetics of the location, despite the incongruity of some of the modern touches.

Five thatched rooms with clean-lined furniture and sunken baths open onto wooden decking.  For those that enjoy a bit of style in the bush, this is certainly a place worth visiting.  Massages are on offer between game drives and walks or boat trips (when the river level allows).

South Luangwa National Park

The Luangwa Valley is probably Zambia's best known wildlife area. As well as having very good all-round game, Luangwa is somewhere that has gained a well deserved reputation for walking safaris, though there is a great deal more to do above and beyond. The park consists of large amounts of woodland; miombo interspersed with grass lands in the north of the park and large stands of mature ebony forming deep shade along the banks of the river.
