A wildlife experience backed up by professional service in a stylish camp

Named for the elusive Puku antelope which never strays far from water, Puku ridge inhabits a world of its own, overlooking a large expanse of the fertile Kakumbi dambo (valley). The open vlei attracts a wide variety of game and the resident leopard is frequently observed by guests on the open deck as she prowls around in search of a meal.

Puku is located at the southern end of the game-rich Mfuwe area and benefits from being slightly away from the main river in very much its own territory.  Open plains spotted with groves of hardwood trees and rocky rolling scenery behind make for an interesting and diverse landscape.

The camp itself is newly refurbished and displays clean lines and contemporary feel in a lovely setting.  Large tented rooms with open-air bathrooms and expansive views are a peaceful refuge during siesta time.  The standards of food and service here are professional without being contrived and the camp is small enough for you not to feel like a "number".

If you can tear yourself away from the action on the vlei, there is plenty to do here from day and night game drives, walks and sundowners in beautiful locations on the river.  This is big game country but it's just as good for birds and the little details of the bush.  Experienced guides are on hand to bring it all to life.

South Luangwa National Park

The Luangwa Valley is probably Zambia's best known wildlife area. As well as having very good all-round game, Luangwa is somewhere that has gained a well deserved reputation for walking safaris, though there is a great deal more to do above and beyond. The park consists of large amounts of woodland; miombo interspersed with grass lands in the north of the park and large stands of mature ebony forming deep shade along the banks of the river.
