An out of the way, tiny camp with an emphasis on walking and enjoying the bush.

Zungulila is one of the most southerly camps in the South Luangwa.  Overlooking the floodplains of the Kapamba River, the camp is in a good spot to just perch on the open deck and observe Africa happening around you.  Beautifully put together, the designers have hit the nail on the head and achieved an ideal balance between a more traditional style bushcamp with contemporary styling and comfort.  It's plush but not over the top, there's attention to detail everywhere you look but without detracting from the clean natural beauty of the area itself.  With just four rooms and a handful of very friendly and experienced staff, this is a highly personal place where you will immediately feel at ease.

Zungulila is part of a small group of individual bushcamps where the focus is on walking.  With a limited road network and surroundings that lend themselves to exploring on foot, it's a great pleasure to set out along the river (sometimes cooling your feet in the shallows) in search of the varied wildlife.  The camp is best combined with a couple of the others (Kapamba, Chindeni, Bilimungwe, Chamilandu or Kuyenda) and you can arrange to walk between a few of them every few days.  This is perfect for nature lovers and those that have got the big game fix early on in the trip and are ready to relax and soak up the surroundings.

South Luangwa National Park

The Luangwa Valley is probably Zambia's best known wildlife area. As well as having very good all-round game, Luangwa is somewhere that has gained a well deserved reputation for walking safaris, though there is a great deal more to do above and beyond. The park consists of large amounts of woodland; miombo interspersed with grass lands in the north of the park and large stands of mature ebony forming deep shade along the banks of the river.
