A rich game experience both in the lodge and out and about

Ivory Lodge occupies an apt position in one of Zimbabwe’s richest wildlife areas where herds of many hundreds of elephant are not unheard of. Indeed the waterhole at Ivory attracts its fair share of regular pachyderm patron so you don’t necessarily have to venture out to enjoy the game. However, lying within a 6,000 acre conservancy bordering the park, the lodge is able to offer both game drives and bushwalks. Aside from elephant, buffalo, lion and leopard are regularly spotted in addition to a wide range of other mammals and birds.

A small thatched and wood lodge, Ivory’s six classically-styled rooms are raised high on stilts amongst the teak trees so typical of the Hwange landscape.

Ivory Lodge works well with safaris to both Botswana and Zambia. Within Zimbabwe, it can be included in itineraries to Matobo Hills, Victoria Falls and Mana Pools. You might also be interested in The Hide in Hwange.

Hwange National Park

Hwange National Park dominates nearly 15,000km² of western Zimbabwe. The areas’ status as the royal hunting ground of Mzilikazi, King of the Matabele people, in the 1800s testifies to its superior quality as a wildlife destination. Previously well known particularly for lion, elephant and wild dog, the area is still teaming with game, assisted by a number of waterholes which act as a bit of a game magnet. This is the best place to go if you want to see the Big 5. Read more?
