A real bush getaway focussed primarily on walking

Kanga is the newest addition to a series of camps by Beks and Sophia Ndlovu in Zimbabwe and Botswana.  Zimbabwean professional guide, Beks, has made his name as a true bush aficionado and has succeeded in hitting the mark in terms of simplicity without compromising on comfort.

In a rebellious break from the traditional river-fronted camps on the Lower Zambezi, Kanga is located an hour "inland" on the Kanga Pan, one of Mana Pools more remote areas.  The area is perfectly undeveloped and so is ideal for exploring on foot.  The key to Kanga is the pan which, as the only perennial water source for quite a distance, provides a regular watering point for elephant, buffalo and an array of plains game and their associated predators (particularly lion and wild dog).

The camp is small - only 6 tents and central chill-out and dining area with views of the water-hole.  En-suite bathrooms include outdoor showers under the shady canopy.  The tents are large walk-in Meru style, comfortably furnished with proper beds and nice little verandahs.

The camp is geared towards walking but you can also game drive around Mana and the Zambezi floodplain and also get out and about in canoes if you wish.  It is worth noting that at present Kanga uses an airstrip which lies around 1 hour's drive away.  The drive does take you through a tsetse belt which can be momentarily annoying.  A closer strip is being sorted out at the moment.
