Flexibility - the real luxury
In our experience, flexibility is something that is least valued before people go on safari, and most valued when they're actually there. This is the element that will make your experience a three-dimensional one and will allow you to control the flow of your game viewing. Spending three hours looking at a Bohm's Bee eater may be your idea of hell, but it also might be the very reason you went on safari. Having the flexibilty to decide is what will allow you to make the most of your time on holiday. This is even more the case when you're travelling with children, whose attention spans can fluctuate and may rapidly wane. The truth is that luxury resides far more in a flexible approach than it does in a bone china dinner service or a deluxe room. And, you wont be surprised to hear that it's also one of the things that makes the camps that offer it more expensive - and a whole lot better - than those that don't.
So why does it matter so much? Because when you're on holiday, one of the nicest things is to be able to kick a few of the "oughts" (ought to get up, ought to get back to camp) into the long grass and replace them with a few juicy "wants" (want to lie in today, want another drink, want to stay out and watch this lion hunt). This is nowhere more true than on safari, where the wealth of unexpectedness is ill suited to a rigid program.
