Most visitors to Tanzania must have visas.  You can downlaod a Tanzania visa application form here.  Tourist visas are usually issued for a period of 90 days and at present cost in the region of $50 (£35) although you should check with us to ensure that these rates have not changed.  These days it's straightforward to buy your visa on arrival in Tanzania and won't cost you any more than it would do from the embassy at home. However, we'd always advise that you err on the side of caution and go ahead and buy your visa before you leave home.
