The camps in North Luangwa are generally seasonal since the rains make it impossible to access at any other time of the year.  {Kutandala Camp} and {Mwaleshi Camp}, for example, are only open from June to October since the rains make it impossible to access at any other time of the year. Norman Carr Safaris do operate during the green season and are one of the very few.  Camps are generally simple, rustic and made of local materials and often rebuilt afresh every year.  They are aimed at providing simple comforts, relying on nature to adorn the surroundings.

Because of the low numbers of visitors venturing into this great wilderness, it is very unlikely that you see anyone else during your stay in North Luangwa - a luxury which is virtually unheard of these days.
