Kathmandu Valley accommodation - Dhulikhel Mountain Resort

Dhulikhel Mountain Resort

Drive only an hour or so from Kathmandu in the direction of Tibet and the views from Dhulikhel Mountain Resort are spectacular. From mid October to the end of March some of the mightiest peaks of the snow-capped Himalaya including Langtang (7264m) and Gauri Shanker (7145m) seem within touching distance. Set in 20 acres of landscaped gardens there are 42 rooms in 27 thatched red brick cottages.

Although the interiors lack any real style, they are comfortable enough for retiring to after a day of walking or cycling in the surrounding hills, lapping up the views from the garden or enjoying a picnic next to the Bhote Koshi River. Continental and regional cuisine, much of it prepared from locally grown organic produce can be enjoyed al fresco in one of the courtyards or at a viewpoint overlooking the Himalaya.
