Hemingways

Price Guide - $195 - 525 pppn

Hemingways is that rare beast on the more accessible beaches of Kenya; a large hotel that has still retained it's character, friendliness and personal service. Located on the beautiful Turtle Bay and with all the necessary facilities to make for an enjoyable bit of down-time on the beach, Hemingways is especially suited for families or those that are happy to just unwind in the sun and sea. As Watamu is getting increasingly popular, it is not ideal if you want to escape and not see another tourist as there are a number of other big package hotels in the vicinity, so you won't have a private beach. However, it is less busy than Mombasa and there is still plenty of crisp white sand along which to stretch your legs.

The marine park is a highlight here and it is very worthwhile spending a morning in the nearby Arabuko Sokoke Forest where there are a number of endemic species of birds and mammals, including the peculiar Golden-Rumped Elephant Shrew and Sokoke Cat.
