Chada Katavi is a place to touch the heart of the wild as no other. Located in the remote wilderness of Katavi, Chada Camp is a small, stylish and very traditional safari camp. For the purist, Chada offers one of the most authentic safari experiences in Tanzania, if not Africa.

Chada Katavi is a camp with great character in an exceptional location on Katavi's game rich Chada flood plain.

In many ways this is the definitive bush camp and a place to immerse yourself in the wild as nowhere else. Chada was originally built by Roland and Zoe Purcell to be a private safari camp, a place to escape to in the middle of nowhere. Today it's had a substantial upgrade from it's original very basic form, but critically, it retains it's spontaneous, pioneering feel. Because of its amazingly remote location in Katavi, Chada has to be one of the most exciting safari camps in Tanzania.

At Natural High, we've all lived and worked in Africa, so our knowledge is born of hands-on experience rather than simply visiting on holiday. We can't over-stress how worthwhile it is to take a few minutes to call us. We're not in the business of churning out thousands of packages so if you'd like to discuss things in detail, take a few minutes and call Catherine, Fiona, Vanessa & Alex on +44(0)1747 898104.

Katavi is somewhere you really feel a part of the wilderness.

Animals are never far away and sleeping at Chada is always entertaining and rarely quiet. From within your tent, the noise of hippo stumbling around in the dark on the flood plain in front, brawling like paranoid drunks whenever they meet, blends with the hyenas whooping and the lion roaring. In the dry season a group of young bull elephant regularly visit the camp and work their way from Tamarind to Tamarind hoovering up all the seed pods, so it's not unusual to look out from your tent and see an elephant on your doorstep. Like many of Tanzania's best camps, this probably doesn't suit every body, but for those who enjoy a truly authentic bush experience, with the opportunity for more activities than simply game driving, it's nirvana.

Chada Camp Guide price from: US$350-550 per person per night.   (explain this?)
As prices at some camps can vary substantially between high and low season, these are rough figures to give you an indication of costs. They are based on per person per night, sharing twin accommodation. For more information, please contact us and we'll be happy to give you an accurate quote based on your time of travel.
