Fumba Beach Hotel, Zanzibar, is set along one of the less developed parts of the Zanzibar coastline

. This is a relaxed and spacious lodge in lovely shady gardens with giant Baobab trees, set on a west coast peninsular just half an hour south of Zanzibar Stone Town. Fumba Beach Lodge is the sister hotel to Moivaro Lodge and the Kia Lodge at Kilimanjaro airport. Rumour has it the same company are also renovating a hotel they have just acquired in Zanzibar Stone Town.

This less visited part of the Zanzibar coast has a good feel to it. The water will never be the picture postcard tropical turquoise you get on the east coast, nor the sand so white or caster sugar soft, but an important trade-off is there are no other tourists and no neighbouring hotels. If you're looking for something a little more off the beaten track, this may be the one for you.
