Camp Comfortable Tents Groups Slightly

Comfortable tented camp in the western corridor of the Serengeti National Park. For the price of this camp in our opinion there are better choices if you are after a top quality tented experience. Slightly lacking in style or atmosphere, and popular with large groups.

Kirawira belongs to the Serena group of Hotels, and is built on the top of a hill with wonderful commanding views to the north over the Ndabaka plains and to the west towards the shores of Lake Victoria, which is visible in the distance on a clear day. The camp describes itself as the reincarnation of an elegant Victorian outpost. However, this is slightly removed from the reality. This is a 25-room hotel in tents. Every thing works well, but it has a sterile feel and lacks the intimacy or character of the small privately owned camps. The staff are friendly and proficient and the food is fine, but this place has the unmistakeable stamp of a chain property, most used to dealing with large tour groups.

The tents are large and comfortable and set on platforms with shady verandas in front, there is an ensuite bathroom at the back with a very powerful hot shower and a flush loo. The camp has a swimming pool. More of a comfortable motel in the bush - this is a place to spend up to a couple of nights to catch the migration as it heads through the western corridor in July.
