Our safaris generally use a private vehicle and guide in which case you'll be able to plan your game viewing exactly as you like. It's also possible to fly in to Kusini, in which case you'll use their own shared vehicles which are open sided land cruisers.

Kusini is set in the far south east of the Serengeti with access to both the short grass plains and the extensive acacia woodland. Between January and May the short grass plains turn green with the onset of the rains and this is the "best" time to visit here. The migrating wildebeest move in and bring with them large numbers of other migrants and nomads, predators and prey alike.

In the dry season, Kusini is easily overlooked because the sensational numbers of animals simply aren't there. However, what you do get then is a stunningly private Serengeti experience and plenty of game, even if you have to work for it. Elephant frequent the acacia woodland and are regularly close to the camp (last time we drove in we were prevented from getting to the camp by a herd of cows and calves that were casually blocking the track) and the area is one of the better places to find cheetah, which prey on the resident gazelles found here throughout the year. Striped hyena are often seen in the area and there used to be one that tactually lived in the camp. Birdlife is fantastic even around the camp itself.
