| Activities from Shooting Star are minimal and low impact: you can take a trip out to sea in traditional boats, there are bicycles to rent for exploring the local villages along the beach roads, and a few bar games. The Kiwengwa beach is also very long, for beachcomber types. Shooting Star can also arrange outside snorkeling and diving trips, and other watersports. Beyond that, it's just very relaxed and undemanding. Some way down the beach are a number of giant Italian resort hotels, not a pretty sight, and we wish they didn't allow quad bikes on the beach, but their impact on the Shooting Star locale is minimal, as their guests rarely venture much beyond their hotels. As it is just a 40 minute drive into Zanzibar's Stone Town and the hotel is well served by a good tarmac road, which turns to gravel just five minutes from the hotel, there is easy access to various expeditions available on the island.
