If you're looking for real exclusivity on Zanzibar, then it doesn't come much better than the The Palms. This small and very stylish hotel is situated on one of Zanzibar's best white beaches and has only 6 well crafted rooms. There are quite a few hotels that profess this level of luxury, but few that can deliver to this standard.

The Palms only has only six private villas, each of which has a colossal floor area of 140 square metres, so these are wonderfully spacious rooms. What's more rooms plural is right - each villa contains not only a master bedroom and en-suite bathroom, but also a living room and bar. And that's just the inside. Outside, you'll find a large furnished terrace where you can snooze and enjoy the sea breeze on the Zanzibari bed or while away the time wallowing in your private plunge pool. The design of the Palms has numerous Zanzibari inflections, but overall has a cool contemporary look and feel that avoids cliché.

If on your safari you've been staying at one or more of the small first-class safari camps in Tanzania - places like Sand Rivers Selous or Greystoke Camp there is always a small risk that your experience on Zanzibar will struggle to match the standards that you will have become used to. At the Palms this isn't the case.
