Like the rest of Northern Tanzania, Manyara has three seasons - a dry season and two rainy seasons. Or at least that's the theory as in recent years weather all over Tanzania has been quite unpredictable.

The dry season runs from June to October, the short rains come in November and the long rains begin in March / April ending in late May.

Being right under the rift valley escarpment, Manyara is quite often under a solid overcast layer in the mornings of the early dry season. The cloud usually breaks up by the middle of the day, but mornings can be cool.

Minimum temperatures are around 15 degrees Centigrade in July and the hottest part of the year is January and February when temperature can be in the high 30s.
